FINAL NOTICE of PARTICIPATION DEADLINE IS JULY 15th Low Cost or No Cost Marketing Tips The following five marketing tips are gleaned from an Internet article title Five No-Cost Marketing Tips by Laura Lake for about.com. Although marketing does take money, Ms. Lake offers thesefew marketing ideas that don't cost a lot. She does state, however, that they will definitely cost you time. So if your business is new or in a bit of a slump and you have the opportunity to throw some personal time into business exposure, here are five possibilities:
1. Network at Events. Attend Chamber meetings and other organizational meetings that attract your ideal clients. Gather business cards or contact information for everyone in attendance. Make immediate contact by phone or e-mail while you are still fresh in their minds. If they cannot use your service, ask them if they know of someone else who could and get that contact information. 2. Attend Public Meetings. At every public meeting, make a commitment to say something that could be useful to those in attendance. This is a great way to share your knowledge and help others, but it also gives you the opportunity to introduce yourself and your business when you are called on to speak. 4. Create a Useful Handout. Create a handout that contains useful information as well as your business information. Be certain to include your name, phone number, e-mail address, website information and short 30-second commercial that tells the recipient about your business. Ms. Lake created a handout title “Top Ten Marketing Tactics Your Competition Wish They Knew.” A sign company could produce a useful handout that includes information regarding the proper signage needed by law enforcement, fire fighters and emergency medical responders for buildings, homes and property. Safety and health tips are always useful information. Be creative! 5. Create Joint Ventures. Find business associates whose business compliments yours and do joint promotions. Also, consider your neighboring businesses for an opportunity to partner in bringing customers to your locale. 6. Write Letters to Editors of Local Newspapers and Business Publications. Make your letters interesting and newsworthy. Remember to include your business contact information and your business website address. The monthly General Meeting luncheons are not being scheduled at this time. The Chamber Board is working on other venues for Chamber networking opportunities in 2009. Please contact Co-Presidents Paula Zimmerman or Kathie Sharp at info@portludlowchamber.org should your business or a group of businesses want to host a business mixer. Board Meetings are the last Tuesday of the month at 5p.m. at American Marine Bank. If you would like to serve on the Chamber Board please send a email indicating your interest to Paula Zimmerman, paulaz@americanmarinebank.com. It doesn't require much time and is a great opportunity to get civically involved. If you have questions or suggestions please contact Chris Reynolds, info@portludlowchamber.org.
